As my favorite Christmas movie states, “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.” Or, in my case, baking a boatload of cookies! Who doesn’t love cookies?!?! Can I get an Amen?!
Welcome back for another round of holiday cookies - but this time, I actually get to deliver them :) Yay for vaccines! Yay for science!!!
Additionally, you may know I launched a new venture this year - Glen Street Staging + Design, a home staging and design firm serving clients in Massachusetts and beyond. I invite you all to follow me on Instagram (here) and/or Facebook (here), as I’d love to share this experience with you! Additionally, if you live in the Boston area and you refer me to a realtor, home seller, or design client who works with me, I’ll personally bake you a batch of your favorite cookies on this blog. Yes, I’ll give you my own blood, sweat, and tears (but in the form of flour, sugar, and likely more sugar) in appreciation of your support! Want to know what Glen Street is all about? Take ‘Em To The Bar M&M Cookies
Did you ever hear about the time a couple of my friends used my M&M cookies to meet people at a bar? These were those cookies. The names will remain anonymous to protect the innocent, but needless to say they were the most popular kids in the place that night!
Lemon Snowflake Cookies
These cookies are fantastic both with a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of Sauvignon Blanc in the evening. For that matter, you could combine them with these Coconut Macaroons and both beverages and throw yourself a very fancy brunch. Mmmm, brunch!
Grain-Free Canine Cookies
WE’RE GETTING A PUPPY! WE’RE GETTING A PUPPY! ON SATURDAY!!!!! OMG you guys, I am SO excited and we haven’t even told our kids yet! They know (conceptually) that we’re getting a puppy sometime relatively soon… they just don’t know it’s less than 3 days away! The only downside? I have to travel 5 hours each way to Bar Harbor, Maine to get this little guy. In the middle of COVID, when stopping to pee in a public restroom is hazardous to your health…
Gingerbread Boys and Girls (they didn’t have to be this way…)
Every year I have at least one cookie failure - and by “failure” I mean cookies that turn out poorly enough that I don’t even include them in the holiday baskets. This is why I stick mostly to recipes I’ve made for years (although I try to work in one or two new ones each year) - because if I’ve successfully made them before I know I can do it again.
Peppermint Puffs
I’ve been making these peppermint puffs for years and they never disappoint. Super light and fluffy, they’re like little peppermint pillows that melt in your mouth. But, a word of caution before you proceed: if staying away from things like trans fats is really important to you, even for things such as very special cookies, choose another recipe because these contain shortening.
Orange Cranberry Granola (because I have too many cookies in the house)
Okay, I have a serious problem. I have way too many cookies in the house right now. Usually, this isn’t a problem at this time of year because I’m amassing a small army of cookies for the sole purpose of giving those cookies away. These cookies, however, are staying here - AND I CAN’T STOP EATING THEM!!! What was I thinking?! Sure, I’ll just make a dozen of my favorite cookies and have them around the house. No biggie.
Lemon Walnut Biscotti
Biscotti is a fancy way to eat a cookie for breakfast. Flour, sugar, eggs, etc… for real, it’s a cookie. Does that mean you shouldn’t eat a piece of delicious, crunchy biscotti for breakfast with a cup of hot coffee on a cold winter’s morning? Nooooooo!!! You should definitely eat the biscotti!!!
Tony’s Favorite M&M Cookies
My husband doesn’t have many vices. He drinks Coke Zero. He watches WWE. He plays almost any fantasy sport that has ever been created. But his largest vice, by FAR, is M&Ms. He eats an unnatural amount of M&Ms. Which is totally obnoxious because he’s always been in fabulous shape. Totally obnoxious.
Maple Pecan Ice Box Cookies
These little guys are always on my cookie list because a) the recipe makes a whole lot of them, b) they’re solid little cookies that hold together in the baskets, and c) they’re delicious!
The Chocolate Crinkle Cookies You Need In Your Life
These are truly little bites of heaven. They will fulfill all of your chewy, gooey, chocolatey fantasies without being the least bit heavy. They melt in your mouth and leave you dreaming of more. They’re that good.
Chocolate Dipped Shortbread Cutouts
I love shortbread cookies. They’re flaky, buttery, and remind me of my semester spent in Scotland. But I don’t typically include anything shortbread in my Christmas Eve cookie baskets. Why? Because shortbread is incredibly delicate.
Super Easy Cinnamon Sugar Cookies
If you’re a child of the 80s you know what I mean when I say there’s NOTHING like a Mrs. Field’s cookie. It was next to impossible to walk by the store in the mall without stopping for a cookie - which is why our cookie game was COMPLETELY CHANGED the year my mom brought home the Mrs. Field’s Best Cookie Book Ever!
